Sonny Angara is the current Secretary of Education in the Philippines, appointed in July 2024 by President Bongbong Marcos Jr. With over two decades in public service, he previously served as a Senator for 11 years and a Representative of Aurora Province for 9 years. Ragnar Gudmundsson is IMF’s Resident Representative in the Philippines. He started his career at the International Monetary Fund in 1999. As an Economist in the African Department, he participated in the design and review of fund-supported programs in Burkina Faso, Niger, and the Central African Republic, and presented research on post-conflict economics. In 2005, Ragnar served as Advisor to the Executive Director for France at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, focusing on Latin America and trade policy. After developing the activities of Landsbanki in Iceland and in Hong Kong between 2006 and 2009, Ragnar returned to the IMF, taking on successive assignments as Resident Representative for Kenya, the West Bank and Gaza, and Bangladesh. In 2020, he joined the Macao SAR team as Mission Chief and the Vietnam team as Senior Economist. Gina Romero is a Filipino-British entrepreneur, community builder, and technology advocate. She is the Founder and Head of Special Projects at Mettamatch, an Ethical AI Data Services company. After moving to Singapore in 2010, Gina focused her advocacy on bridging the technology gender gap and launched Connected Women Singapore in 2013. In 2016, she moved back to the Philippines where she co-founded Connected Women, an award-winning organization based in the Philippines, dedicated to upskilling and empowering Filipino women, especially those from vulnerable sectors of society.
Benjamin began his career at Telstra in 2019 as the Managing Director for Telstra International Philippines. In this role, he is responsible and oversights all of Telstra businesses and interests in the country. In 2022, Benjamin joined the Board of Directors of the Australian – New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines. He was elected to the role of President in 2023. Since 2002, his experience has been in providing high value business services for multinational companies in the field of Engineering. She also leads the Accenture Technology Centers in the Philippines where she is responsible for the operations, strategy development and execution, delivery, and capability development for the technology delivery center. She joined Accenture in 1990 and has worked on large-scale systems integration and outsourcing engagements. She has also held leadership roles in the Philippines Delivery Center and led its Systems Integration Service Group and Communications, Media and Technology groups. Additionally, she was instrumental in driving Accenture’s delivery innovation and industrialization program. Outside of Accenture, Ambe is an active Board Member of the Filipina CEO Circle and For the Women Foundation, a Board of Trustee of the Philippine Business for Social Progress and is the Global Ideas Committee Chair of the Makati Business Club.
